The Positive Effects of Computers on the Human Body

Introduction

Digital Healthcare

How many of us have ever looked up an article online about a medical condition we have (or think we have)? The internet allows access to thousands of medical journals and information. Of course this information hasn't replaced our doctors or physicians, but it certainly is a valuable resource. Also consider how doctors are using computers to research. Medical research has exploded since the advent of the computer. Advanced images of the brain are only possible because we have computers to interperet the data. Lets look at just a few of the reasons why computers are helping healthcare so much.

Health Buddy

1- Home Healthcare Equipment and Monitors

Did you know that you can have some of the powerful equipment that your doctor uses, right in your very own home? In just the last decade, computerized medical tools have started entering the home. These devices, can be very powerful and they can save lives. Of course they can also improve the quality of life, and prolong independence. These healthcare gadgets are often connected directly to your hospital. They upload the results straight to your doctor. This allows him to receive information about how you are doing without you needing to drive to the hospital, wait in the waiting room, etc.

2-Professional Healthcare Technology

Computers and DoctorsThe diagnostic tools and computers available to doctors these days are incredible. Doctors are able to take high resolution images and 3D models of every part of the human body. These tools give information that is absolutely necessary to make a correct diagnosis. There are also computer systems that allow doctors to virtually model and sythsesize drugs, study genetic disorders, and test drugs and side effects without needing to experiment on humans!

Healthcare Tablet3-Health Informatics : Sharing Medical Information

Consider the possibility that any doctor in the world could access your medical information in a matter of seconds. Behold the power of the internet. Of course we must address how to keep this information confidential, and how to control when and if this information is accessed. But the benefits of sharing medical information are incredibly real. Having a medical profile will stop unnecessary medical overlap and allow doctors to waste less resources conducting the same tests. In addition, doctors are able to compare their findings with the results of other doctors. Finally, medical researchers are able to study large amounts of medical data. This greatly helps to research and diagnos diseases that are related to culture, climate, age, race, sex, weight, and more. This type of research is only possible because of computers.
